Why are we out in the State Parks?
This is the 75th anniversary of the NM State Parks. Dave
Simon, State Parks Director, was aware of the NMGeocaching County Challenge
and contacted us to see if we could combine efforts for a new series. The
Hartman Catwoman team, bob8bear, uuesley, av8ndv8 and tealeaf formed the
core committee to get it going. Then 32 other members of the NM geo-community
jumped in to place 34 caches, one in each State Park.

The caches are permanent but there is an incentive to visit
all the Parks by the end of 2008. Everyone who completes the series by the end
date will receive a State Parks day use pass, good for a year. Of those finishers,
there will be a drawing for an annual camping pass, good for one year. This
is not a race. There is no premium for being the first to finish. We want you
to spend some time in each park. To be eligible for the pass, you must sign
the log, post the on-line log and take a picture in each park. If you are not
a camera person, get a disposable camera just for this series. If you are caching
alone, your hand holding your GPS unit is sufficient.
The state will be publicizing the series and we may be giving
many newbies their first cache finds. For that reason, these hides are consistent
and straightforward. They are all ammo cans filled with swag provided by State
Parks. If you plan your trip, you should be able to find many existing caches
with a wider variety of styles in each general vicinity.
So now, cachers, start your GPS units, take your time, discover
your parks and have loads of fun.
